Many lawyers charge companies hourly and usually big rates (usually regardless of how good the lawyer is and how simple your case is). Lawyers usually charge for every phone call and for every e-mail. So the employer might start worrying that your contacts might cost him a lot. Usually the respectable lawyer will not discuss anything with you directly if his client is your employer.
Just an advise for those who have an option: hire your own lawyers, you will see how different your case will go. Even if you have to pay them out of your pocket - it's worth it.

Hello IV Freinds,
I checked my mail last Saturday, got Cards and welcome approval notices in mail. Status at USCIS website still shows all cases pending. I had called my Senators office for follow up week before as processing dates also had also passed.
I appreciate IV for providing this website for sharing our immigration issues and concerns in this long journey.
Good luck to all IV members who are still awaiting for good day to come.

EB-3-I is stuck in 01...not likely to move till Oct and then in OCT08..it will move by couple three months for the next 12 months till OCT 09..What are the option for EB-3 stuck here..from 01, 02, 03 ....
1) Convert to EB-2 ?.
2) wait for legislation from Logfren to pass
3) wait another 3 years...already in the Queue from 01..
If I choose to convert to EB-2..I have to put in a PERM and then I-140..what is the time line for getting my LC thro PERM and then my I-140 in EB2 cleared?? based on the current processing times..
Do I wait to see if Logfren's legislation goes thro ..if doesnt go with the conversion to EB-2...???
Please help me decide...

HI,
My company filed my Perm on Jun 4th 08 but it is not yet approved. My H1B is in its 6th year and will end in July 09. I was wondering if I would get an extension , even if my Perm gets denied for some reason.
I just want to prepare for the worst case. Can any one please help with some information.
What are my options to get a H1B extension.

Hi,
U can save the pdf files as u save ur word docs or floppy symbol to the left side on the top bar as u know .But cannot edit the pdf files unless and until u have pdf writer in ur system.

I guess original poster is asking about saving forms after filling it up. You can save the form but the data that you filled up will not be saved. If someone is actually able to save the form along with the data, I'll be interested too to know how.

I have had a bad experience working with ICICI Lombard insurance. Issues i had with ICICI
1) They do not have any rates negotiated with US hospitals. I have seen when your insurance does not have a negotiated rate, an emergency room can cost upto $5000 vs a negotiated rate of $1000 (based on real experience). But there is a cap on how much ICICI will pay for each kind of service which means my out of pocket would have been quite a bit.

As for US v/s India, none of the US insurance companies selling these travel health insurance are licensed and regulated by US authorities. Most , if not all, of these are underwritten by carriers at Lloyds of London.

I work as a full time employee (h1b) for a company abc in CA. In Oct 09 they laid off a couple of people and the attorney instead of revoking a laid off persons h1b sent a note to USCIS to revoke my h1b while im still employed. They informed USCIS to ignore the note they sent but USCIS ignored and cancelled my H1. In the meantime attorney files another h1b and got h1b approval (without i94 stub)
I was getting paystub till now and today they called me and said I was out of status due to the mistake they did. They didn't inform me about the out of status from Nov 07 2009. They basically wanted to cover their mistakes. Now yhey are asking me to go to Canada or Mexico to get H1B stamped. Here are my concerns
1) What will be implication in the embassy for such situations where I'm totally unaware of our of status situation
2) Is there chances of my H1B getting rejected in Canada or mexico due to out of status and would they ask me to go to India from Canada/Mexico ( i don't mind going to india but I have 5 month old baby and woudn't want to risk the travel from US to Canada/mexico to India)

Hello,
I apologize in advance, if I should have posted in a different thread - if so please let me know and I can post there (and admins can delete this one).
My priority date from Perm is Feb 2006. But I have an earlier priority date of Jan 2005 (I-140 approved). I dont know if that earlier date has been applied to my I-485 (which is based on the Perm labor). My case is in NSC.
After seeing the October VB (acc to which my RIR PD becomes current in Oct), I opened an SR to see if they interfiled my two cases. I got a letter in the mail from USCIS, but no reponse in it to my question. Instead it states the following:
"The status of this service request is:
Your case is currently being prepared for review. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. Continue to check the USCIS website for case status updates."
A few questions:
1) What does "being prepared for review" mean? Should I expect more RFEs? We had responded to Medical RFEs in April this year.
2) How can I make sure that my two cases are combined?
3) Is there any preparatory action I can take before October 1st?
I would appreciate your comments and advice on the above.

Well, USCIS would/may call the person who has given the reference.

Are you kidding me $400.00 I paid $115.00 Including tetanus shot and tb shot. $35.00 for the lab work and my husband's insurance covered the x-ray because I Knew it would com back positive. What a rip off
It depends, paid 400 a piece. We were in a hurry to get our applications down to uscis by 2nd july... had to go to nearest physician and he charged about 400 a piece and no x-ray was needed. I wanted to get the I-693 asap and got it in 3 days.
Question is Why in the world is this doctor asking for more than 1 tetanus shot? 1 tetanus is good for I believe 10 years. Are you talking about MMR?

I had my restamping done at Mumbai consulate 2 weeks back. They only asked me about the salary and what physical location I am working. I had taken last 3 salary slips with me, but not used at all. Make sure H4 interview is at right category if restamping H4. VFS folks did not allow my wife to go to interview since her H4 stamp on passport was expired more than 12 months, even though she has I529 approval for the period after that. One more thing with Mumbai consulate is you have to hand deliver all your paper work atleast 5 working days in advance. They do not accept via currier or other means.
