Which cameras in particular. It already supports all the serious Pro cameras if you ignore the very recently announced Canon and Nikon amature DSLRs.

Runs perfectly with high (not ultra) settings at 2560x1440 on my i7 iMac.
I'm kind of disappointed that the most powerful non-professional mac computer (ie. not Mac Pro) right now can't handle the Ultra setting at native resolution on a game that is known to be not be very graphic intensive. Lowering the resolution for me is unacceptable as it really degrades the quality of the image.
The best gpu you can get on an imac right now is the ATI mobility 4850... and only the 512 MB version to boot. ATI has had a full line of 5XXX mobility cards out for a while now I kind of wish Apple would offer a current generation card as an option.
If Apple wants to get serious about gaming they need to fill the huge void in their product line. No one wants to pay $3K for a Mac Pro with Xeon processors and over priced generation-old graphics cards to run games slower than a cheaper PC. I don't really like the screen of the imac, the mac mini is way underpowered for games and so are all the laptops since they too have mobility gpus.
I'm just 'some guy' and maybe I don't have the "holy vision" of Apple but what I do know is that if they released a new machine in the Mac Pro case, with an i7 processor and current generation gpu I would buy it immediately. I can't be the only one that thinks this way.
As it stands, I'm either going to build a hackintosh or just stay with Windows.

I'm no PC hater, but I do find these comparisons to be kind of amusing. I always come back to thinking about the comparison in terms of cars. A Toyota and an Audi are both going to easily put in 100,000 miles of reasonably reliable service, get you to and from work, and cruise comfortably on the highway. They'll both get the job done. The Audi is more expensive, and you can argue over whether spending the extra money is worth it, but there's not much argument to be made over which is the 'nicer' car.
The materials you touch on your average PC laptop feel decidedly cheap, which is understandable if you don't want to spend much money on your computer. For something I use and enjoy using every day, like a car, a computer, a couch, a pair of pants, a cell phone, whatever...I'm willing to pay a little extra for the good stuff. My choice. Show me a non-Apple laptop with a trackpad that will, after 2 or more years, still be just as smooth and easy to use as when it was new. Really, the trackpad is my biggest point of interaction with my laptop on a daily basis...a 3 year old trackpad on almost any PC will have been polished to a shine in the middle and lost its smooth gliding texture. I paid a premium for a premium product, so be it. Yes, I could have saved $500 by buying an HP. I could also save $30 and buy wal-mart jeans.
That said, I use a core2quad tower with windows 7 at work every day, and it gets the job done. The OS is stable, functional and reasonably elegant. It works, it doesn't make me want to break the monitor over my knee like XP used to, and I'm just as productive as I would be on a mac. In fact, DVD pricing is not the most important factor for Walmart and I suspect Target as well. Both companies employ sophisticated marketing techniques to draw customers into the store and get them to part with more money than they originally intended to spend. Brand-name promotions, item placements and even Walmart's "don't ask, don't tell" return policies are examples. The use of loss-leaders, selling products at a small loss, has proven to be one of the most powerful customer draws. DVDs are the numero-uno loss leader draw of most Walmarts, particularly those in the broad midsection of the country where it's often difficult to find a video rental store, much less a Tower, Borders or Virgin Atlantic store. I recently spent the summer in the Hill Country of Texas and became quite familiar with the Friday evening surge when customers would stream into a Walmart to pick up a DVD for the weekend and then decide to do a little additional shopping "seein' as they was there." I think the stores are rightfully fearful of the loss in foot traffic and the consequential loss of impulse purchases if movie downloads become popular. For the same reason, simply openning up an online store will not insulate them from losses since the profits accrued from DVD sales don't generally arise from the DVDs themselves, but from the additional shopping that is all but inevitable once you enter the store.

Something just hit me while doing my taxes, and getting drilled with self-employment tax.
Some of the major things many are talking about cutting are Medicare and Social Security. Self-Employment tax is in place to cover payments into each by self-employed individuals (or those like me who just happen to be paid 1099 for a portion of work). So, you make major cuts to those two programs, would they not also then cut the self-employment tax, thus reducing revenue? So wouldn't it all be a moot point? Or would we still be paying the same out of our checks and taxes towards the programs, just not getting as much out of them?

Has apple ever officially responded to any false marketing claims they may have accidentally stated? For example - them stating their macbook pro battery life lasts X amount of time, however it really lasts X -3 hours.. and they've responded in an official capacity?

I snagged an open box 16G from Best Buy for $388 all in last week.
When this popped up I decided to pick one from VZ and return the Best Buy unit. While I was at Verizon rchecking out with their last 16G some other guy came in looking for one.
Doing the math I was looking at saving $65 bucks minus the hassel of wiping and reboxing the thing; driving back to Bast Buy; loosing the six months no interest and setting up the new one. Not such a huge deal in my world so I offered it to the guy and he took it instead.
Maybe I scored some karma points...

Exchange does the same POP/IMAP protocols and if you want your phones to access the system using those protocols on an Exchange server, you'll have to open the same firewall ports... Are your 2 statements even related ? Do you even realise Zimbra's backend is also database driven, except they use a much more standard RDBMS (MySQL) rather than Exchange's proprietary EDB format (which is loosely based on MDB, since both use the JET database engine, a far inferior database format that's more akin to SQLite than to a real RDBMS).

And are you suggesting that push based e-mail requires a "database driven" backend in any sort of way ? Because that would be quite ludicrous a claim a to make. And of course, are you suggesting only Exchange does push based e-mail ? Because that would be ignoring Zimbra's Z-Push functionality...
The fact is, AD, Exchange, they are so widespread exactly because of what I said earlier : Microsoft got their monopoly from IBM in the 80s and then proceeded to leverage at every chance to make solutions that do not inter-operate well. AD is integrated into Windows client tightly, it's a pain to make it work for anything else as far as SSOs go. Exchange is a success thanks to Outlook's widespread use, which is thanks to Office's dominance, which achieved it through Windows widespread use on the desktop.
This is typical Microsoft modus operandi and why I have ethical and moral reasons to not work with their products as much as I can personally help it.
Your SQL server example is also short-sighted. A 1/4 the cost of Oracle ? No duh, you're getting 10% of the product. Typical though that people look for Oracle when their needs don't even require it. It's just the best there is right now, and of course, you have to pay for that. However, you don't always need the best, in fact, Oracle is overkill for about 90% of RDBMS use out there.
This is all moot, the subject of this thread is Apple hiring a Data center manager, not a product manager, that used to work at Microsoft. I see no problem in this, the guy is probably very qualified.

I agree. The Intel 3000 isn't as bad as people make it out to be. If you want to play games, don't bother with an Air. A computer is a tool. If it can't perform the function that you want it to (aka gaming), then why buy it? It's function over form. Not the other way around.
ULV Intel 3000, which is the one that would have to go into Air, if it goes at all, is quite a bit weaker than the regular I3000. Also, why wouldn't people bother with MBA if they want to play games? Current MBA is more than fine for playing many games. It has performance that matches or exceeds X360 and PS3 with any multiplatform game I've tried.

Okay, anyone with any intelligence can tell this is fake.
1. Camera positioning is wrong, the positioning of the camera would be closer to the middle of the ipod, because the image sensor would be to wide/thick to fit there, its not like the iphone which is not rounded.
-in image 4 you can also see that the camera was photoshopped in by the pixel patterns
-photo 1 you can see fake shadowing opposing the camera to make it look as if its real, but really giving away its fakeness
2. capitative button, the idea is cool, but apple already discussed this option and said it was unreliable, and would cause many to lose battery life from heat activation.
-Also in image 3 you can clearly see it was photoshopped by the blurring, repeating and the swirling on the fingerprints.
3. Capacity, the actual and physical capacities of a device are different, a 128 gb ipod would have 120gb physical. then some more reserved for apple so 118gb
-also photoshopped, if you noticed the added blur in the area of device capacity, its because there is. also the focal point is distorted by the blurring effect so it proves the photoshopping

it's all about power and making the most with that power, most of the electric power of a computer goes to waste in heat dissipation a chip like this would improve a lot computer efficiancy:eek:

These cuts and shut down will be unpalatable for the voters. Obama will win reelection and we will simply continue to monetize our debt at an even faster rate. That is the real calamity. If the budget isn't paid for and balanced with tax dollars then the market will balance it for us in the form of massive inflation. It's already been happening if you've been paying attention.
